Anti-Anxiety Moving and Breathing

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we are using gentle movements to work energy throughout the upper body, the lower body and then some restorative poses to let that calming energy settle in.  We stand, we sit and we rest.

For this practice you will need a chair, a blanket and a block.

Gentle Soothing All Over Well Being

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we start with a focus on the body finding stability and then finding the breath. That leads into some gentle movements with the breath to bring in warmth and movement into the upper and lower body.  We take it to some seated and lying down poses to get deeper into the hips, back and legs and finish with restorative twists and rest.

For this session you will need a blanket and a couple blocks.  You will feel great with this low back reset!

Lower Cross Focus - Reset Your Low Back

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

The Lower Cross of the body is from the Right hip point to the left low ribs and the Left hip point to the Right low ribs. When we sit too much or have low back disfunction the 'X' becomes droopy and script-like when it really wants to be a capital Helvetica X. This session will provide deep work to help the body seek alignment - shoulders over the hips; front ribs seeking the spine softly while maintaining a gentle lumbar curve.

For this session you will need a blanket and a couple blocks - and you will need wall space.  You will feel great with this low back reset!

Upper Cross Focus - Shoulders that Can Calmly Abide

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

The Upper Cross of the body is from the Right Shoulder to the Left Hip Point and the Left Shoulder to the Right Hip Point. When we sit too much or have shoulder disfunction the 'X' becomes droopy and script-like when it really wants to be a capital Helvetica X. This session will provide deep work to help the body seek alignment - shoulders over the hips; front ribs seeking the spine softly.

For this session you will need a blanket and a couple blocks.  You will feel great with this shoulder reset!

Gentle Soothing Movements and Rest(oratives)

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this practice we are doing some small movements in preparation for some deeper rests - think of it as gesturing in a direction to show tension the way out! This practice is not a full restorative practice and not a full deep stretch class, but a soothing cocktail of both. For this practice you will need a blanket and a block and pillows/cushions/bolster or extra blankets to build some soft support.  Jasmine makes a rare on camera appearance.

Tuning In and In

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

This soothing session is designed to take you in and in. We meditate, breathe and do some gentle movements to release tension before doing a yoga Nidra. For this session, please have a chair, blocks and a blanket. Bolsters are great if you have one or you can make a bolster from cushions or pillows. Enjoy Tuning In!

Love Song To The Low Back

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we are dedicating a love song to the low back - every thing we do with our legs and hips feeds into the low back. By the end of this session, you should feel loved in your low back.  It was such a great love song for low backs, it attracted dogs from everywhere! Buddy came in to sing the sweetest love song.  For this session you need a sense of humor, a belt, something that serves as a bolster, a block and a blanket. Must also love dogs. Enjoy.

Gentle Soothing All Over Joint Juice

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we go to every joint in the body and bring gentle attention and movement to clear tension. This all over body tune up is a great way to stay open to all the possibilities that are available to you. Stay pliable and ready to move in the direction that suites you! For this practice you will need a block or two, a mat and a blanket/towel.

Gentle Soothing - Tune Up

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

Gentle tuning up of the entire body - feel soothed and refreshed!  You just need a mat, blanket and block for this practice.

Gentle & Soothing - Lymphatic Stuff

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

This session targets the Lymphatic system and the glands of the upper body. You will need a mat, block and blanket.

Gentle|Soothing - Psoas, Low Back, Hips & Shoulders

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we are helping to create the causes and conditions for balance and calm in the body. Focusing on the psoas, the low back, hips and shoulders allows us to return to the integrity of our alignment - releasing the environmental things that take us out of alignment - stress, sitting, inactivity and stress. Did I mention stress?  For this practice you will need a mat, a block or two if you have two, a blanket/beach towel and a chair or table - something about hip height to stabilize you in a series of poses.

Pause & Soften - Supported Seated Forward Fold

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this Basic Breathing Session we practice finding the breath, enhancing the breath, managing the breath and resting in the breath.  Enhancing the breath will come in handy for more exerted practices, while managing the breath will assist you in finding balance to energize or to calm down.  You just need something sturdy and comfortable to sit on in this practice - a blanket folded or a block will do. Have a yoga mat to relax on at the end when we rest.

Breathing Practice - 4 Part Soothing Breath

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this breathing practice you will find solace and peace in the breath. For this practice you will simply need something to sit on that allows your hips to be higher than your knees and your spine supported.

Peaceful Soothing Calming Breath Practice

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this Express session, we practice breathing that will facilitate calming and soothing your body, energy, emotions and thoughts.

Do this as a stand alone session or pair it with another express class. It's a great way to build your own custom practice.

For this practice, you will need comfortable support to sit in good alignment.  If you choose to do a restorative pose after - like legs up the wall - you will need a wall! (duh) and if you choose a traditional savasana, you may want a blanket or two to cover you and maybe as support under the spine or under the knees to support the hips and spine.

The Principles of Balancing

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we practice the principles of balancing. The pillars of balance are Breath (deep, even breathing steadies the mind), Gaze/Dristi (where you look influences the mind) and Feeling your Whole Body in the pose.  We take the principles into iconic yoga balancing postures: Tree, Warrior 3, Eagle, Balancing Half Moon. For this practice, please have wall space and a chair.  You actually won't need your yoga mat for most of this practice, but will want it at the end, plus any comfort props to feel completely released into gravity in Savasana.

Cracking Open The Shell - Making Room For Ease

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

ISometimes we armor up with al the stress in the world and in our lives. It's time to create some space to breathe into the body. Let's crack the shell and see if we can make some room to bring in some ease. This is a gentle stretch for the legs with some mindful breathing.  We finish with a Nidra of sorts. All you need is a mat and a chair or whatever you have handy like a coffee table or the front of your couch.  I was joined today by a special mystery guest - so nice to have a person in the room - socially distanced of course!

Creating Shoulder Stability

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

This session falls into many categories - perfect for those wanting to build shoulder integrity. Perfect for those in the healing process from shoulder injuries/disfunction and perfect for those who carry tension in the upper back. Drop those burdens and get into your shoulders with your deep breath.  Grab a chair and a mat. If you have small hand weights ( 1, 2 or 3lbs) great, if not grab a couple of cans from the pantry or imagine weight and resistance in the shoulder vinyasas.

Principles of Back Bending

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

In this session we explore how to safely and effectively back bend. It should also be noted that back bending is also heart opening. We need back bending to counterbalance all the sitting we do as modern humans.

Have a seat!

Gentle & Soothing Yoga for Grief

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

All things are subject to change, so we must learn let go of things, people, relationships, ideas, ways of moving through the day.  When we do so we experience loss...loss has an emotion - grief. This session is to let your grief unwind its bind around your heart to give you room to enjoy the essential energy of what you miss. Grief is the holding onto what cannot be held. Nothing is permanent so anything we hold onto is prone to grief. Even the tough stuff we may not necessarily like, like grudges and shame, need to be  released.  This session gives you some breathing, asana and meditative yin/restorative poses to practice letting go.  You will need a mat, a couple blankets/beach towels and a couple blocks. It is helpful to have some sturdy pillows too - go grab them off the sofa or your bed.  Make sure you feel comfortable and comforted. Peace.

Soothing Yoga - Grounded and  Flexible

The Gentle|Soothing Channel

When we can see what is knocking us out of equanimity, we can work with it. We'll also take charge of our own happiness.  The session concludes with a guided meditation and a mini yoga nidra for deep relaxation.  You will need a yoga mat, a blanket/throw, a block and some throw pillows.
