If you are new to yoga or new to mind|body|fitness yoga you may have questions or concerns before you practice with us. We have collected some of our most frequently asked questions for you. If you have questions beyond what we have covered here, please do not hesitate to contact us. We want to help make your MBFY experience be comfortable for you.
Where to start
If you are new to yoga, you will be most comfortable starting with Yoga Basics. In that class you will get detailed instruction on alignment, breathing, and getting the most from your practice as you build strength, increase your balance and flexibility, and find soothing relief. After a few basic classes, you may feel comfortable exploring our other New Yogi Friendly classes (designated as NYF on our schedules.) If you have been practicing, but have been away from your practice for any length of time, consider trying any of the NYF classes or jump in on one of more challenging classes - we just ask that you respect your edges and limitations. Check out our Class Schedule
mind|body|fitness yoga is located at 2915 G Battleground Ave in Greensboro. Specifically, we are located in the Golden Coin shopping center (with Green Joe's Coffee, The Loaded Grape, Salvino's and Nappa Auto Parts.)
What To Bring To Class
If you arrive at the studio comfortably dressed, we have you covered with everything you need from mats to blankets, blocks, bolsters, eye pillows and much more. If you have your own yoga mat, bring it. We use top of the line yoga mats in the studio and you are welcome to use one of ours - with no rental fee. All we ask is that you wipe it down after you use it.
Plan to Arrive Early!
If you never practiced at our studio before, you should plan to arrive at least 10-15 minutes before class is scheduled to start to complete a waiver and to get checked in and settled. If you have been to the studio before, we still recommend that you arrive at least 5-10 minutes early to get checked in, get your mat set up and have a few settling moments before we start. We lock the doors when class starts and we intend to start and finish on time out of respect to our clients' busy lives. Class start times are listed here.
mind|body|fitness yoga is an inclusive studio - meaning we want yoga to be accessible to all. So we offer two free classes each week: We start the week with a FREE Yin & Flow Class (we call it Stimulus Yoga) on Monday mornings at 9:30 am (all are welcome) and we offer a FREE Meditation session on Sundays at 3 pm. This meditation sessions follows the traditions of Insight Medtitation and offers a 20 minute guided meditation followed by a 20 minute silent session. We believe that meditation benefits all and all should have access to it. Please join us.
Our fee structure allows you to drop in, purchase class passes that have 3 month durations (fitting the frequency of how often you will practice with us in 3 months, or to purchase unlimited passes (best for those who practice with us at least 3 times a week). We even offer an annual unlimied pass and auto-biling on a monthly basis.
If you are new to the studio, we offer a Welcome Pass that allows you to try out an unlimited number of classes for 7 days at the low cost of $25. We feel that gives you a great value and a sound way to decide if MBFY is the studio for you.
You can purchase passes at the studio or on this website. Each month we offer some sort of sale on passes because we value your relationship with us. See our complete listing of rates
Who Can Attend Classes
While we do not currently offer "family yoga" classes or "kids yoga" classes, we do allow children ages 12 and up to attend classes as long as they are interested, respectful of the experience of those around them and benefiting from the practice. Children under age 15 should be accompanied by an adult and an adult will need to sign a waiver for their children practicing at the studio.
Yoga for Everyone!
Yoga meets you where you are! No need to worry about fitting into some ideal. Everyone has a range of movement and with conisistent practice, you can fully realize how you were meant to move and stretch in YOUR body. Everyone can do yoga! You have to at least give it a try and give it time to have it's positive effects. Don't be intimidated by what you see in social media - yoga is much more than what you see - it's really about the more invisible aspects - feeling balanced, calm, strong and positive.
Practicing When You Are New, Injured or Chronically Ill
A private session work best when you are working through some limitations that prevent you from progressing in a public class - i.e. coming back from an injury, working around and through an illness, deepening an existing practice with advanced instruction. For those who are new, we recommend that you start with a Yoga Basics class first to get a foundation of experience. If that isn't working for you and your specific needs, by all means, let's set up a private session. Private sessions are scheduled based on studio availability and Instructor schedules. Please contact the studio to discuss before purchasing a private session. Private Session Rates
Yoga Is Not About Religion
Yoga is not about religion, however it can become a spiritual practice as you turn your attention inward and start examining the things that cause fear, doubt and stress. At MBFY, there is a spiritual element in our classes as our classes are based in mindfulness. You will find that our community is diverse and inclusive.
How We Practice Yoga Here
At MBFY we do not artificially heat the room beyond the normal range of 74-76 degrees (depending upon the season/weather conditions). Our practices build heat in the core so you have complete control of your experience. Our flow classes pay attention to core strength, energizing breaths and calm focus - which can build heat and sweat if you choose to practice that deeply. Our active classes will challenge you to build strength, balance and flexibility - building your own heat with control.
